Tony was originally from Nelson but has lived most of his life in Napier.
He spent his working life as a teacher but now is semi-retired enjoying the freedom that brings while still finding time to read books, bike, do some gardening and indulge in listening and playing music.
Tony wholeheartedly agrees with Nietzsche’s 1888 quote, “Without music, life would be a mistake”. Tony’s favourite music might be folk, rock, punk, country, jazz, pop, electronic, new wave…..the list goes on, played from a new piece of vinyl just bought or a download, or a CD bought in the 90’s or something from his expanding collection bought 45 years ago.
Tony found CWA Napier through the Volunteering Hawkes Bay FB page and felt it was a good fit.
He says “Cycling is more than a leisure activity; it is the way I commute and stay active. I use my bike to get to work, get to the supermarket, get into town, head to the local café or visit family and friends. (Who needs a car?) CWA just adds to that mix and it’s been great so far providing that service so that others can enjoy the feeling of being out and about on a bike”.
Tony was once a hockey player and played a spot of volleyball but now he is happiest coaching his granddaughter’s volleyball team and is always interested to see how Spurs and the Wellington Phoenix are doing. Welcome to the CWA Napier team, Tony.
